BERKELEY--Applications for Berkeley City College’s American Sign Language classes are being accepted now through Sept. 5. BCC fall classes begin Thur., Aug. 20.

BERKELEY – Fall 2009 enrollment for Program for Adult College Education—PACE—is open at Berkeley City College through Sat., Sept. 5. Fall classes start Thur., Aug. 20. PACE is a college alternative for adults with job and family responsibilities. The two-and-a-half year program allows students to finish their freshman and sophomore years, then transfer to a four-year college to complete a bachelor's degree.
Classes are held six evenings a month and six Saturdays per term and include conferences, seminars, and television courses. 
Counseling, financial aid, and library services are available to all PACE students. The fee for California residents who have lived in the state for more than a year is $20 per unit.

BERKELEY—Skilled biotechnology jobs continue to open in the Bay Area and Berkeley City College is training people for them. The college is accepting applications for its Fall 2009 Biotechnology Program, now through Sat., Sept.5.
More than 35 percent of the nation’s biotechnology firms call the San Francisco Bay Area home. Entry-level technicians’ starting salaries average $20-$25 an hour. 

Biotechnology classes at Berkeley City College encompass recent advances in genetics, biochemistry, and the related sciences. They combine academics with occupational training to ensure that graduates are well prepared for high skilled jobs in both the public and private sectors.

Applicants may choose from a 2-1/2 year biotechnology associate in science degree or two-year occupational certificate program. The community college enrollment fee for California residents is $20 per unit. The fee is subject to change by the California legislature. Financial aid is available.
